Sandoval Shelved for 2 Months

Just when the "Panda" re-gained his stroke and was one of the hotter hitters in the league, the 24 year-old went down Saturday with a broken wrist that is expected to cost him up to 8 weeks. There's even a chance he may not be back until August. All we can do right now is hope for Sandoval cause he was the catalyst to this Giants offense this April.

Unfortunately, I'm also still battling a bad injury to my right wrist, and won't be able to do a post today. Just wanted to give my thoughts on Sandoval who will be sorely missed both in the lineup and in the clubhouse. It really stinks too cause Pablo was off to a career start hitting .313 with 5 HR and 13 RBI hitting back in the middle of the Giants order.

I'll also tell you what a good thing the Giants have a guy like Mark DeRosa now, otherwise they'd be in a mess over there. It would probably have meant Tejada at 3rd and Fontenot at short, hardly a defensive left-side you want if your Bochy. Instead, I'd expect much of the same, just with DeRosa filling in at 3rd (in about 10 days when he returns from the DL) and probably swapping batting spots with Ross or Burrell.

What does worry me is the injury bug that's attacked the Giants this year, but on the bright side, Andres Torres is just days away from his return. Whoever it is, they need somebody to jump start this stagnant offense!

Couple Points on Today's Game: I just wanted to point out how big it was for the bullpen to come up with those 4 scoreless in relief of Sanchez, who was untouchable, but also couldn't find the plate... So it appears that while DeRosa is shelved, Migeul Tejada is now the 3rd basemen with Mike Fontenot taking over at short; pretty much expected... I fear that if Sandoval's injury lingers (broken wrists for a hitter can take up to 4-6 months to fully heal, especially for a guy who carries Pablo's weight) and if Mark DeRosa isn't the same player when he returns, that could be the department in which the Giants go shopping. Then again, Pablo is lining up to be this teams 3B'men of the future, so they have a tough situation.... Let's hope he's back before the All-Star Break!

I'm sorry, don't mean to offend any Giants fans, but they don't look like World Series Champs and I bet if they play the Yanks last year, 9 times out of 10, the Yanks win the Series.

I mean, the Giants are 5th best in the NL IM Opinion, they just got hot. I think Cincinnati, St. Louis,Atlanta, Colorado and Philly are all better.

Not hatin though. Giants are 6th best in the NL and that's good enough sometimes. I do like the Freak and Posey though, them two are beasts!

Well, they are looking an awful lot like they did this time last year right before Posey came along...

Hopefully Belt comes back strong or Torres infuses the lineup, cause they don't have it right now. They're below avg. at SS, 1B, LF, RF but they can't sit these guys cause they make too much $ I guess? I say trade Huff and Burrell for a real Corner OF'er and let Belt play 1st. What about Carlos Lee if Houston ate some of that contract? But that would mean Belt in left then.

Whatever.. They just need a guy who's gonna hit 40 homers, enough of this punch and judy!

I was worried about them being "content" after winning in 2010, so I guess I'm not too surprised!

Giants Still Need Infield Help

On Saturday, the Giants finalized a 2 year contract extension with Freddy Sanchez, who they acquired in July for Tim Alderson. The new deal for Sanchez will pay him 12 million over the next 2 seasons instead of 8.5 million for just 2010, which was his option for 2010. I've voiced my disappointment in Sanchez a few times here since the Giants dealt for him over the summer. He wasn't able to stay on the field full time to help this club with their run at the NL Wild Card, and even when he was in there, he didn't seem to make much of an impact in th e lineup. Now, I wasn't necessarily hoping the Giants would cut ties with Sanchez (they probably would have had to pay 4 million or so to buy him out), just didn't think he was worth upwards of 10 million dollars, and would have liked to see the Giants pursue someone like Orlando Hudson with that money. The Giants already have an infielder who's being paid about 3-4 times what his play over the last 2 seasons would indi...

WORLD SERIES: Giants Move Up 2-0 on Texas

PreGame After taking game one in a surprising slug-fest , the Giants look to go up 2-0 on the Rangers in the World Series on Thursday night. The Giants are sending out Matt Cain, a guy who I'm sure every Giants' fan is pretty confident in. He'll be a opposed by C.J. Wilson, who's in his first year as a full-time starter, but has been brilliant in the role. He did struggle his last time out though, so hopefully the Giants can get to him early and get into his head a bit. I'm going to do something I've never done here on this unique occasion, and sort of do an in-game post. updating this post every time I feel I have something to add. So go Giants, and be sure to check back throughout the game, and after, to vent or whatever! As long as Matt Cain keeps rolling, and the Giants keep coming up with those clutch 2-out hits, we should be OK. Texas has that high-powered offense that can score in a hurry, as we saw last night, so the Giants cannot let down and have to t...

Giants Notes: Lincecum Signs, Ross to Boston

Well, even though I touched on it a little bit in our last post, I haven't really had a chance to get my thoughts out on the new Lincecum deal since he and the Giants agreed earlier in the week. Also, on the other end of things, the Giants missed out on shoring up their outfield by letting Cody Ross sign in Boston for only $3 million in 2012. First off, obviously, wanted to talk a bit about Lincecum. I've already said here that I didn't expect him to sign a long-term deal that takes him through free agency, but it doesn't mean he wants to leave San Francisco like everyone is suspecting. I mean, if I were Lincecum, I'd probably do the same thing, even if I planned on eventually signing with the Giants long-term. Why take a chance at mitigating your value to just sign a deal? Granted, a 5 year, $100 million deal isn't anything to sneeze at, in this market, if he were a free agent, Lincecum could probably easily command a 8 year, $200 million deal. If he could get ...
